The India Meteorological Department has warned of very heavy rain over Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand, issuing a red alert for the next two days.
Widespread rainfall is also forecast over Ladakh through the rest of the week.
The IMD said wind speeds could reach up to 80 kmph in some areas, raising the risk of uprooted trees and power outages.
Traffic disruptions and waterlogging in low-lying localities are also expected as the rain persists.
Hilly states have been cautioned about landslides and sudden rises in river water levels because of the ongoing rain.
