Lovlina Borgohain won the women’s 75kg boxing gold at the Asian Games 2026 on October 2.

She beat China’s Bao Ziyi 5-0 in the final.

The win came on her 29th birthday.

She is the second Indian woman after Mary Kom to win Asian Games boxing gold.

Mary Kom’s gold came at the 2014 Asian Games.

Indian boxers had a strong run at these Games, with Ankush Panghal and Parveen Hooda also reaching their finals.

The Asian Games 2026 are being held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.

Boxing bouts at the Asian Games are scored by a panel of ringside judges, and a 5-0 verdict means all five judges scored the bout in the winner’s favour.

India’s overall medal tally at these Games has continued to grow across boxing, shooting, archery, athletics and other sports.

The 75kg category is one of the heavier weight divisions in women’s boxing.

Borgohain has competed at the highest level of Indian women’s boxing for several years.

China has traditionally fielded strong boxing squads at the Asian Games.

Mary Kom is a six-time world champion and one of the most decorated Indian boxers of all time.

A boxer who reaches an Asian Games final is guaranteed at least a silver medal.

India’s boxing federation has invested in training camps and international exposure for its top boxers in recent years.
